At 3:30pm on Saturday April 12, 2003, the Jersey Shore and Western Railroad joined the ranks of the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific Railroads by joining completed sections of mainline with a Golden Spike ceremony.  The JS&W segments were joined at Port Jervis, NY.  A special order was received at Port Reading Tower to authorize Train Number One to run-through from Port Reading to the newly completed section of trackage.

Dick Brown was the master of ceremonies at the JS&W event. Club President Ray Russell, assisted by N-Scale Department Chairperson Don Magee, drove home the Gold Spike.  Following the ceremony guests and members alike participated in refreshments and a little nosh.
